Divinum Trials: All 9 Runestone Trials and the Crucible

How Many Trials Are There?

Nine. A launch-week capture of a full trial run timestamps nine separate trials, spread across a route roughly 19 minutes long end to end — the gaps between them (the shortest is under two minutes, the longest around three and a half) suggest they are distributed across the island rather than clustered in one challenge area.

They Are Optional, and the Developer Said So

This matters more than it sounds. Answering a player who bounced off the demo’s wave-heavy combat slice, the developer wrote that the demo primarily demonstrates combat and buildcrafting, that the full game has a lot more actual exploration and platforming content, and that the runestone trials are just there as optional challenges.

So: if you are stuck on a trial, you are not stuck on the game. Skip it, progress the walkthrough, come back with a better build.

What Trials Pay Out

Trials are one of the three sources the store page names for runes — the other two being exploration secrets and boss fights. There is also a distinct skill-trial reward thread in the game’s structure, which is consistent with trials handing out build pieces rather than story progress.

Practical read: trials are build content. You do them to strengthen a build, and a stronger build makes the next trial easier — which is exactly why they reward being deferred rather than brute-forced in order.

The Crucible Is Not a Trial

The Crucible is separate, and it is the only piece of challenge content the achievement list ties to a hard mechanical reward:

Unstoppable — Conquer the Crucible and unlock the 2nd Fury slot.

A second Fury slot is a real build upgrade, not a cosmetic. That makes the Crucible the one piece of optional content with a concrete reason to push through it. Fury mechanics are covered on the combat page.

Combat Gauntlets

A third category shows up repeatedly in the achievement text: the combat gauntlet. Three achievements accept “a combat gauntlet or a boss fight”:

  • Untouchable — no damage taken
  • Last Stand — finish with 1 HP remaining
  • Fury Unleashed — finish in Furious Surge

Because gauntlets are repeatable challenge encounters, they are the practical venue for all three. Attempting Untouchable on a story boss is doing it the hard way.

When to Take Trials On

  1. Not on sight. The reward is build power, and build power is what makes them beatable.
  2. After Radiant Dash and a full rune set. See skills and runes.
  3. Crucible last of all — it is gated behind being genuinely good at the combat loop, and its payoff (second Fury slot) is an endgame upgrade.
  4. Use gauntlets for the skill achievements rather than trials or bosses.
